VIRTUAL RACE DAY: DECEMBER 12-19, 2020
Welcome! If this is your first time here, please disregard the following details as this virtual event will be done solo and not in an organized fashion in 2020. We will however use the instructions below in 2021. So read up and learn more about our event so you can be prepared for 2021.
Start Time & Staging
The start of the 10K will be at 7:00am Runners are encouraged to start making their way to the start line no later than 6:20am.
The start line is located at Civic Park in our new start gate for 2020
This course is a loop.
The 10K Race will be using the “B-Tag” timing device that is embedded in the bib number. For more information and a tutorial video on how to use this, please see below. On the morning of the event, make sure that you have your bib number on and you are set to run! Athletes will run over timing mats located at throughout the race, recording their time as they pass several check points.
Hydration stations will be located as follows:
Mile 2: Water & Gatorade Endurance Formula
Mile 3.5 (Heather Farms): Water & Gatorade Endurance Formula
Mile 6: Water & Gatorade Endurance Formula and Post Race Goodies
The start of the 10K is located in front of Civic Park and will take runners from Civic Park on the road North across Ygnacio onto Civic Rd. North which becomes Oak Rd. Runners will turn and run behind Club Sport at Jones road, which will come out onto Treat Blvd. Runners will then make their way up Treat Blvd. in the outer lane. At Bancroft Road, runners will turn right and proceed 4-tenths of a mile before turning right on to the Iron Horse Trail heading West. Down the trail just under ra half mile, runners will enter Heather Farms Park just after mile 3 and will traverse Heather Farms Park in a clockwise fashion, running down N. San Carlos and Heather/Marchbanks before ultimately joining the half marathon and 13.1 relay runners around the famous duck pond, before heading out to the Canal Trail where they will turn left. At the Canal Trail/Oak Rd. Intersection runners will make their way through Walden Park where they will run through the park on the trail provided. Runners will proceed out of the park onto the dirt trail opposite the Iron Horse Trail. At Walden Road, runners will join back onto the Iron Horse Trail. Runners will pass over the Pedestrian Bridge at Ygnacio and enter Civic Park for the finish of the 10K. This course will be well marked making it easy to navigate.
Awards to the top three male and female finishers in the 10K will be handed out on the day of the race as well as age groups in the following categories:
<9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80>
Each 10K finisher will receive a very cool custom die cast finishers medal for their achievement.
